What precautions should be taken when welding steel pipes

1. Steel Pipe Cleaning
Before welding, steel pipes must be thoroughly cleaned. The surface of steel pipes may contain various impurities, such as oil, paint, water, and rust. To ensure smooth welding and minimize safety issues, it is recommended to thoroughly clean these impurities. This will also help ensure a tight weld seam and reduce the possibility of problems during welding.

2. Adjusting the Bevel
The bevel opening for welding should be based on the wall thickness of the steel pipe. For thicker walls, the opening can be slightly larger, while for thinner walls, the opening can be slightly smaller. Adjust the opening based on the actual situation. If the opening is too large, the gap between the welds can be reduced slightly. Typically, the gap between the welds should be approximately 1-1.5 times the diameter of the welding rod or wire. The specific gap should be adjusted based on the specific pipe.

3. Welding Process
For steel pipe welding, it is currently recommended to weld half and half. Don't be too hasty. Be meticulous and precise, and ensure that the pipe is welded securely. If the steel pipe wall is thicker, layering can be an option, which can also provide a more reliable result.

When welding steel pipes, it's important to carefully consider all aspects and strictly follow the required steps. This can relatively reduce risks and ensure smooth welding.
